WADESBORO Mr. Addison "Add" Garfie Waddell, 56, of Henryetta, OK and formerly of Wadesboro died Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in Oklahoma.
There will be a memorial services at 3:00pm Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Brown Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Williams officiating.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Add was born March 23, 1962 in Anson County, NC a son of Sadie Moore Waddell and the late William Herman Waddell, Jr. He was a graduate of Anson High School.
Add had a love for horses at a very young age. He pursued his passion of horses and created the legacy of the amazing barrel horse rider and trainer he was known for by many worldwide. Add had a gentle way about him in life with people and horses. He was kind and had had a heart of gold. He was very humble and had many achievements during his career just to list a few: AQHA World Champion 2009 (Atlas Peak - highest scoring horse for 2009) and AQHA World Champion 2010 (Wrapit N Snapit), Trainer of the 2000 National Finals Rodeo World Champion Horse Risky Chris, owned by Kappy Allen, 2009 and 2010 Dixie National Champion, 3 time National Barrel Horse Association National Champion, and multiyear finalist at Old Fort Days for the Futurity and Derby. Add touched so many lives with his compassion and wisdom and will never be forgotten.
Surviving are his son, Addison Waddell (Brittany) of Bennettsville, SC; his grandson, Braxton; his mother, Sadie Waddell of Wadesboro; his brothers, Buddy Waddell (Joye) of Wadesboro and Steve Waddell (Sharon) of Charlotte; his nieces and nephews, Alisha Craven (Chad), Kimberly Wilson (Jeremy), Mandy Little (Everette), Mary Lena Allen (Brian), Adam (Tiffany) Waddell, Nicholas Waddell (Adrienne) and Wesley Waddell and 13 great-nieces and great-nephews. Also surviving are his aunt and uncle, Anna Lee and Tom Taylor of Wadesboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brown Creek Baptist Church, Building Fund, Tommy Bricker 1135 Winfield Rd., Polkton, NC 28135.
