Mr. Alan William Garris, also known as Al, was born in Wadesboro, NC on March 19, 1961 and was a son of the late Tinnie Bell Taylor Garris and Roscoe S. Garris. He departed this life on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at his home. Alan was educated in the public school system and was employed at Conmet in Monroe, NC for a number of years. Alan confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of East Rock Ford Missionary Baptist Church in Wadesboro, NC. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Darlene Miller-Garris for 27 years and to this union, one daughter was born, Shalonda Keyottie Garris. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Westly Garris and one sister, Barbara Jean Little. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his beloved wife, Darlene Garris of the home; one daughter, Shalonda Garris (Chris); two grandchildren, Syana Mohajane Garris and Christopher Alan Crawford, Jr.; four sisters, Mary Louise Bowman (Willie), Fannie May Clyburn (J. Van), Geneva Timmons (Weldon), Margie Lee Williams (Steve); three brothers, John Henry Garris (Daisy), James Edward Garris (Shirley) and Levernal Garris; four aunts, Mary Wilcox, Elma Taylor (Clarence), Virginia Taylor, Lossie Garris; two uncles, Isac Taylor and Clarence Taylor (Elma); mother-in-law, Hattie Miller; five brothers-in-law, Wilber Miller (Robin), James Miller (Brenda), Randolph Miller (Michelle), Maurice Miller (Marilyn), and Julius Miller (Crystal); one sister-in-law, Sue E. Townsend (David); four God-children, Jonora Hall, Tyasya Hall, Juelz Robinson and Jamarion Ratliff; three aunts by marriage, Bernice Miller, Annie Miller and Clara Burch; and a host of nieces and nephews and their families, cousins, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Leroy DuBose officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Chesterfield, SC.
