The would eventually make Morven, North Carolina their permanent home and Aldena retired from teaching at Lilesville Elementary School. Following her retirement, she tutored children to read, not only their school books but the Bible as well. Aldena was a great supporter of her husbands ministry and was a wonderful pastors wife. She would often serve the churches as pianist or organist and even choir director. She taught Sunday school and was very active in Baptist Associational WMU activities, too. Her husband, Rev. Bill Whitlow preceded her in death December 30, 2016 and she is survived by her daughter, Beth Whitlow Marin of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Kaylan Johnson of Morrisville, Kyle Johnson of Wadesboro and Alyssa Aldena Marin of Charlotte, her great-grandson Tidus Simmons; and her sister and brother, Frances Cline of Abingdon, VA and Cecil Childers of Ocala, FL.
