The would eventually make Morven, North Carolina their permanent home and Aldena retired from teaching at Lilesville Elementary School. Following her retirement, she tutored children to read, not only their school books but the Bible as well.
Aldena was a great supporter of her husbands ministry and was a wonderful pastors wife. She would often serve the churches as pianist or organist and even choir director. She taught Sunday school and was very active in Baptist Associational WMU activities, too.
