Hamlet - Allen Junior Galbreath was born July 21, 1945 in Durham, NC to the late William Rosco
Galbreath and Cornelia Walton. Later, Allen relocated to Hamlet, NC. He passed away on
Tuesday, October 13, 2020, after a long battle with an aggressive form of cancer. He was 75 years old.
Allen attended Monroe Avenue High School, where he met and wedded his beautiful life-long
partner, Gracie Taylor. He graduated with the Class of 1964. Later, Allen retired from Hamlet
Housing Authority after 14 years. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Allen managed
his illness with strength and grace and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as
possible. On his final day, he was surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren who he
adored.
He was preceded in death by both his mother and father, Cornelia Walton and William Rosco
Galbreath; two sons, Allen Galbreath Jr. and Timothy Everett Galbreath; and one grandson,
Jermaine Rayshard Stroman-Galbreath.
Allen leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife, Gracie; two daughters, Kathy Galbreath and Pamela Galbreath (Late Moses) Wilson; two sons, Gregory Galbreath Sr. and Don (Cherie) Galbreath; one brother, William (Vivian) Galbreath; one sister, Annie (Alton) Hinson; 5 granddaughters, Brittanee Galbreath, Ashlee Galbreath, Alexis Galbreath, Alesha Galbreath, and Myah Grace Williams; 4 grandsons, Gregory (DeErica) Galbreath, Mycah Wilson, Timothy (Ja’Tara) Galbreath, and Terrence (Leah) Galbreath; 9 great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Levon Brown; a special friend, Frank Bennett, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
The funeral services will be private.
A public viewing will be from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro.
