Wadesboro – Mr. Alonzo Phillips, age 66, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2022, while a resident at Anson Health and Rehabilitation.
Services will be private. This means there will be no viewing or service for the public.
Born In Anson County, NC, on March 4, 1956, Alonzo was a son of the late Walter B. Phillips and the late Bernice Leak Phillips. During his youth, he attended Poplar Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Polkton, NC. Alonzo attended Anson County public schools and graduated from Bowman High School. Following his graduation, he was a faithful worker for Hardees Restaurant for over 20 years. After Hardees closed, he went to work next door at the Markette Convenience Store and worked several more years.
Alonzo leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Keenan Phillips, and Randy Gaddy (Frances) both of Wadesboro, NC; one sister, Shirley Phillips of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Joseph Phillips of Winona, MS and Walter B. Phillips Jr. of Wingate, NC; and three aunts, Edna Gatewood and Virginia Smith both of Wadesboro, NC and Viola Phillips-Wheeler of Charlotte, NC. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Alonzo was preceded in death by a brother, John Phillips; a sister, Mary Boyd; and a grandson, Logan Mitchell.
The family wishes to offer a special thanks to Arlania Wall, Lataya Robinson, and Robin & Bennie Diggs for all they have meant and done for the family.
