WADESBORO - On Thursday, September 15, 2022, Mrs. Anner Lean Streater Wilkes, 84, of Wadesboro and formerly of Hamlet, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord at Lake Park Nursing Home in Indian Trail with her family at her bedside.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, September 19, 2022 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. June Grant officiating. Interment will be private in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of her niece at 404 Robinson Bridge Road, Wadesboro.
She was born August 23, 1938 in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Robert Hill Streater and the late Mary Bailey Streater. She worked for a number of years at Hornwood in Lilesville and later retired from Richmond County Schools, having worked in the dietary department.
Anner Lean was a member of Joy Free Will Baptist Church in Hamlet, where she served with the kitchen committee.
Those left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews, Sherry Poplin (Jeff), Cindy Caudle (Tracy) and Rosemary Greene (John) all of Wadesboro and Terry Streater (Irene) of Monroe; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Jennifer Stovall (Robert), Beth Diggs (Rodney), April Mullis (Kevin), Kyle Caudle (Keely), Tyler Greene (Alexis) and Erin Ratliff (Will) all of Wadesboro, Stephanie Brown (Jody) and Matthew Poplin (Bridget) both of Polkton, Elizabeth Poplin of Helena, MT, Matthew Streater (Kellie) of Monroe and Quentin Streater (Sydney) of Cape Carteret and their families; and her special friend, Teddy Butler of Cheraw, SC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Wilkes and by her brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Helen Streater.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anson Rescue Squad, 208 E. Morgan St., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
