Mrs. Annie Sturdivant Crowder was born on March 6, 1937 to the late Alberta and Sam Sturdivant. She departed this earthly life on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center - Anson, following a lengthy illness.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She loved flowers, fishing, family gatherings, and the Holy Scriptures.
Her Christian roots began at an early age at Crossroads A.M.E. Zion Church, then branched to New Grove Missionary Baptist Church, then finally settled at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
She was united in holy matrimony to Elijah Crowder, who preceded her in death.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories, four daughters: Jeanette Crowder, Juanita Crowder, Doris Jean Crowder, and Loretta Crowder; two sons: Craig Junior Sturdivant and Willie James Crowder, all of Wadesboro, NC; two step-sons: Jeffrey Odell Allen and Henry Thomas Allen (Wadesboro); seven grandchildren: Christopher L., Casonja, Angaloka, Senora, Brittany, Christopher J., and Jaylan; four great-grandchildren: Danielle, Timothy, Tianna, and Shaniya, all of Wadesboro; four sisters: Willie M. Clark (Marshville, NC), Johnsie S. Thomas (Monroe, NC), Janie S. Colston (Leroy) (Marshville, NC), and Maggie S. Hammond (Marshville, NC); one brother: Steve Sturdivant (Mary) (Charlotte, NC); a brother-in-law: Bernard Crowder (Wadesboro, NC); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday, April 15, 2016 at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Nathaniel Floyd officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Leavitt Funeral Home.
