Wadesboro - Mrs. Arlene Allred Martin Bowman, 91, died Sunday, October 2, 2016, at the Autumn Care Nursing Facility in Marshville, NC.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Parrish and Rev. Chuck Marbry officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00PM.
Arlene was born in Troy, NC on September 4, 1925, a daughter of the late Aretta Herring and Grover Franklin Allred. She was first married to Mr. Hampton Hamp Martin, who died in 1992 and later to Mr. Clarence Bowman who died in 2014. Arlene was a homemaker and wonderful mother and grandmother not just to her own kids and grandkids but for many of her neighbors and friends as well. If you came to visit her, she always insisted you have something to eat and drink. In addition, she celebrated and cheered her kids through school as she was actively involved in many of the extracurricular activities at Southview Academy. Arlene will also be remembered by many students for her work in several of the Anson County school cafeterias.
Survivors include her daughter, Vickie Martin of Wadesboro; son, Darrell Martin (Karen) of Peachland; and three grandchildren, Max, Mason and Mia Martin. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Don Allred and Buddy Allred.
The family wishes to thank both the nursing staff on the Rehabilitation Hall and the members of the Rehabilitation Dept. at Autumn Care for their wonderful care and concern shown to Miss Arlene during her stay. The family would also like to thank Vera Cash for being the most special caregiver!
