Barbara was born September 23, 1942, in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Charles Julian Gregory and the late Evelyn Adams Gregory. She grew up in the Little Cotton Mill Village of Wadesboro and often spoke of her childhood, walking to school with her sister, playing with her friends at the ballfield, picking cotton for a local gentleman, and growing up in Southside Baptist Church where she and her family remained a part of for many years.

Barbara dearly loved her children and grandchildren and always enjoyed the times she shared with them. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies on television, Coca Colas and Cheetos. She always made sure to have plenty of snacks for when her grandchildren visited.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her son, Stephen Greene of Wadesboro; her grandchildren, Chesley Greene (Morgan Cheek) of Winston-Salem and Ashley Layfield (Parker) of Polkton and her nieces and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chesley Albert Greene, by her son, Warren Greene and by her sister and brothers, Peggy Pegram, Charlie Gregory and Darrell Gregory.
