Barbara Phillips Hargett

MORVEN Mrs. Barbara Phillips Hargett, 79, died Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Novant Hospital in Matthews. There will be a memorial service at 6:00pm Saturday, May 11, 2019 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Sydney Pratt officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. There will also be a gathering of family and friends at 2:00pm Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the home of her daughter, 6009 Plyler Mill Road in Monroe. Barbara was born December 29, 1939 in Iredell County, NC a daughter of the late James Britt Phillips and the late Verlie Ruth Wilson Phillips. She attended Shiloh United Methodist Church and loved to fish so much that she taught her three children how to fish. Surviving are her children, Danna Timmons (Sam) of McFarlan, Tracy Freeman (Gerald) of Monroe and J. Von Hargett (Shores) of Chesterfield, SC; her grandchildren, Jessica Brockett, Bud Blackwelder, Jerry Freeman, Joe Freeman, Brittany Hargett, Chris Hargett, Masey Hargett and Jeb Hargett and her great-grandchildren, J.Von Hudson, Katelyn Hudson, Justin Hudson, Destiny Blackwelder, Austin Blackwelder, Harper Wright and Malachi Gorski. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Von Hargett, Sr. and her sister, Carolyn Holland. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
