Barbara Carpenter Jenkins

Polkton – Mrs. Barbara Carpenter Jenkins, 75, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2022, at her home in Polkton.

There will be a memorial service at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 18, 2022, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Rocky Carpenter officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.

A private burial will be in Poplar Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Polkton.

Barbara was born in Anson County, November 2, 1946, and was a daughter of the late Mary Funderburke and Charlie Rubin Carpenter. She was a licensed practical nurse having worked at Autumn Care and Lillie Bennett Nursing Home. Her natural gift was always helping and serving people. 

She is survived by her children, Trudy Parker and husband, Chris of Marshville, Jessie Jones and husband, Damon of Peachland, Amy Harrington and husband, Russell of Thayer, MO,  and Kelly Jenkins of  Polkton; her grandchildren, Christie Parker of Marshville, Tiffany Ruppe and husband, Chase of Marshivlle, Vaylen Moore of Marshville, Dexter Jones of Peachland, Dillion Harrington, Dalton Harrington and Devin Harrington all of Thayer, Mo.; her great-grandchildren, Tucker Ruppe and Charlee Ruppe both of Marshville.

Also surviving are her siblings, Johnny Carpenter of Polkton, Margaret Duvall of Cheraw, SC, Nancy Usery of Cordova and Tammy Liles of Polkton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Jenkins and son, David Charles Jenkins.
