LILESVILLE – On Monday, April 7, 2025, Mr. Barry Leroy Mullis, 78, passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Stanly in Albemarle.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Thursday, April 10, 2025, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Gerald officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday and other times at the home.

Barry was born October 28, 1946, in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late Zeb Mullis and the late Dessie Carpenter Mullis. He was a graduate of Anson High School and was a veteran of the Untied States Air Force, having served during the Vietnam War.

He was retired from North Carolina Natural Gas Company, having worked with them for many years making friends and building relationships with his co-workers and customers alike.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed attending car shows and taking care of his 1969 Camaro that he purchased brand new when he returned from the service.

Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Val Hendrix Mullis; his daughter, Misty Hogan (Rocky) of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, C.J. Lowder, Lauren Mullis and Nicholas Mullis; his brothers, Charles Mullis (Mary Jane) of Stoneville, Vernon Mullis (Revonda) of Mt. Gilead and Randy Mullis of Peachland and his nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Paul Mullis and Chris Mullis and by his brother and sister, Donald Mullis and Gracie Mullis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 430 Lansford Dr., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
