POLKTON - On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Mrs. Betsy Carpenter Vanhoy, 75, passed away peacefully with her family by her bedside at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe.
Betsy was born July 3, 1948 in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Jodie Silas Carpenter and the late Addie Estelle Beachum Carpenter. She was a graduate of Anson High School and had worked for many years as a telephone operator and later as a secretary.
Betsy loved to cook and trying new recipes.
She leaves behind, Snoopy, a pet that became her best friend of 14 years following the death of her husband.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, David Quates and C.J. Vanhoy and her brothers and sisters, Howard Carpenter, Roy Carpenter, John Carpenter, Ed Carpenter, Jerry Carpenter, Charles Carpenter, Gregg Carpenter, Polly Nance, Lucille Horne and Aileen Martin.
Betsy's family is most appreciative to Elizabethan Gardens, Center Well Rehabilitation, Atrium Health Union and Hospice of Union County for all that was done for her to make her life better and peaceful for the past several months.
There will be a graveside service on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Williams Cemetery in Polkton at 2:00 PM..
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McWhorter Hospice House, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
