ROCKINGHAM - Mrs. Bettie Elaine Wall Davidson, 87, of Rockingham and formerly of Lilesville, died Saturday, December 7, 2013.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Forestville United Methodist Church, Lilesville with Rev. Kaye Fry officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro and other times at the home.
Bettie Elaine was born January 6, 1926 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late William Battle Wall and the late Bettie Webb Wall. She was a life-long member of Forestville United Methodist Church and after moving to Rockingham, she attended First United Methodist Church and was grateful for the warm welcome she and Clyde received there, yet her heart belonged to Forestville.
She was a graduate of Lilesville High School, attended Women's College in Greensboro, now University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and graduated from both Wingate College and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with degrees in Art History and Art Education. She had a great love for the arts and taught art for many years at Bowman High School and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
For all who knew her, dancing was another of her great-loves. She taught dancing, was a member of the local shag club, Silver Liners, and competed in Senior Games Dance Competitions in both North and South Carolina.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 71 years, Clyde Dean Davidson, Jr. of the home; her children, Bettie Webb McFaddin and husband, Norman of Commerce, GA, Clyde Dean Davidson, III and wife Sandy of Richmond, VA and Jeffrie Wall Davidson and wife, Julia of Rockingham; her grandchildren, Barrett Teal and husband, Scott of Carnesville, GA, Jeff McFaddin, Jr. and wife, Carissa of Commerce, GA, J. Bradley Davidson and wife, Stacy and Joshua W. Davidson and wife, Melissa both of Rockingham; her great-grandchildren, Cody Scott Teal and Charlie and Jeffrie Davidson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brother, Lucy Fetridge, Marjorie Liles and Battle Wall, Jr.
II Samuel 16:4 tells us, 'David danced before the Lord with all his might' our family rejoices now that her struggles are over, she can now dance before her Lord with all her might. Keep dancing Mimi!
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Community Home Care and Hospice for their exemplary care for Bettie Elaine while she was their patient.
