Mrs. Betty Waddell Bennett, 80, died Thursday, December 12, 2013 in the Hospice House of Union County. Funeral services will be 3:30PM Saturday in First Baptist Church with Rev. George Senter officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 2:30PM. Betty was born in Anson County on January 24, 1933, a daughter of the late Ruth Lee and John Addison Waddell. She was a homemaker raising three children in the Lexington/Columbia area of SC before returning with her husband to Wadesboro following his retirement. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, John C. 'Jay' Bennett of the home; a son, Stan Bennett of Bedford, VA and his children, Steven and Eva; two daughters, Ann Bennett of Lexington, SC and her daughter, Gracen; and Fonda (Carl) Suits of Moseley, VA and their child, John. Other survivors include a brother, Leon (Joan) Waddell of Wadesboro; sisters, Rachel (Barry) Bunn of Wadesboro, Rose Adams and Sarah Johnson both of Charlotte; and a sister-in-law, Vi Waddell of Trenton, NJ.
