Wadesboro - Mrs. Betty Burns Burr, 85, died Wednesday, November 07, 2012 at her home.
Funeral services will be 11:00AM Saturday in Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:30PM Friday at the funeral home.
Betty was born in Anson County on November 23, 1926, a daughter of the late William Franklin and Fannie Lewis Burns.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Wadesboro but in recent years attended Camden Presbyterian Church. A devoted Atlanta Braves Fan, she was active in their family business, J.B. Video and was retired from the Zimmer Corporation.
Prior to declining health, she and her husband enjoyed spending time with their family at Lake Tillery and Myrtle Beach.
Survivors include her husband, David A. Burr of the home; her children, Patricia (Jimmy) Burns of Wadesboro, Sandy (David) McDougall of Apex, David A. 'Butch' (Joyce) Burr Jr. of Wadesboro, and Phil (Kathy) Burr of Norwood; her grandchildren, David Burns, Stan Burns, Chad Burns, Melanie Fornes, Brian McDougall, Amy Boone, David A. 'Dab' Burr, III, Robbie Burr, Wendy Hill, Jeremy Burr, Justin Burr and Jarret Burr; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Frances 'Frankie' Carpenter of Polkton and Joan Adell of Trinity; a brother, Jerry (Thelma) Burns of Lake City, TN; and a very special pet poodle named Lucky.
