WADESBORO – On Friday, February 14, 2025, Mrs. Betty Jean Rivers Ratliff, 89, passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Union in Monroe.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Tony High officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday and other times at home.
Betty Jean was born January 9, 1936, in Chesterfield County, SC and was a daughter of the late Eugene Rivers and the late Myrtle Lee Davis Rivers. She was a graduate of Zoar High School.
She was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and catering, flower gardening and taking care of her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her husband of 71 years; Bill Ratliff; her children, Phyllis Vernon (Jay), Bill Ratliff, Jr.(Penny), Lee Donathan (Stephen) and Darrell Ratliff (Denise) all of Wadesboro; her grandchildren, Travis Steagall (Nicole) of Peachland, Katherine Martin (John) of Wingate, William Ratliff, III, Jenny Walden (Matthew), Kristy Davis (Jason) and Ashley Ratliff (Aaron) all of Wadesboro and Brian Ratliff (Rebekah) and Whitney Ratliff (Paisley) both of Chesterfield, SC and Mickey Gulledge (Amanda) of Ruby, SC; her great-grandchildren, Emma Steagall, Allie Steagall, Georgia Martin, Will Martin, Kaden Ratliff, Brewer Ratliff, Cohen Ratliff, Noah Ratliff, Sadie Walden, Maggie Walden, Jase Ratliff, Liam Davis, Maevyn Hill,,Max Gulledge, Kyanne Gulledge and Jacob Gulledge; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Goins (Ron) of Winston-Salem and her nieces and nephews and their families, which includes, Rebecca Williamson (Bruce) of Cheraw, SC with whom she had a close relationship.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Mary Charles Ratliff, her brother and sister, Billy Rivers (Tina) and Maxine Eddins and by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Susan Ann Brown and Carl Thomas Ratliff.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Deep Creek Christian Academy, P.O. Box 370, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
