Bill Mr. Waddell, Jr

Wadesboro - Mr. William Herman 'Bill' Waddell Jr., 88, went home to be with the Lord April 19, 2013. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Brown Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends Saturday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro. Bill was born May 20, 1924 in Union County, a son of the late William H. and Clara Lee Waddell. Bill attended Polkton School and served in the US Air Force. A faithful member of Brown Creek Baptist Church since his youth, he held many positions and led the choir for over 50 years. Bill loved his family, his church and his community. A devoted husband, he was married to the love of his life, Sadie Moore, for 63 years. Bill was most proud of his family, and loved spending time with them. Farming was his passion and he was happiest when he was on the tractor plowing, planting and working the land. He was well known for making delicious BBQ and sausage. In his later years, Bill was proud to help his sons as they carried on his love for farming. In the most recent years, as his health began to fail, he spent most of his time sitting on the front porch with Sadie or riding across the farm on his John Deere Gator. Survivors include his wife, Sadie Moore Waddell of the home; three sons, William H. 'Buddy' Waddell III (Joye) of Wadesboro, Steve Waddell (Sharon) of Charlotte, Add Waddell (Lori) of Henrietta, OK; eight grandchildren, Alisha Waddell Craven (Chad), Kim Waddell Wilson (Jeremy), Mandy Waddell Thomas, Adam Waddell (Tiffany), Nicholas Waddell (Adrienne), Addison Waddell, Wesley Waddell, and Mary Lena Waddell Allen (Brian); eight great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Craven, Maggie Thomas, Bryce Wilson, Will Thomas, Caleb Wilson, Ava Waddell, Amelia Waddell, and Jacob Allen (arriving July 2013); and a sister, Anna Lee Waddell Taylor (Tom) of Wadesboro. Memorials may be made to the Brown Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o James Turner, 4210 Hwy 742 N., Wadesboro, NC 28170. Leavitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
