Bobby Eugene Smith

LILESVILLE Mr. Bobby Eugene Smith, 86, peacefully died on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Richmond County Hospice Haven in Rockingham. There will be a memorial service at 2:00pm Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church in Jackson Springs, his familys home church with Rev. Teddy Lawson and Rev. Steve Turner officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church. Bobby was born July 28, 1932 in Richmond County, NC a son of the late Lewis Edward Smith and the late Gladys Mae Rushing Smith. He retired after working in multiple vocations and was a veteran of the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division having served during the Korean War. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Edythe Russell Smith; their children, Jerry Nelson Smith (Rebecca) of Harrisburg, Gail Denise Smith Ratchford (Rodney) of N. Augusta, SC and Donald Wayne Smith of Lilesville; grandchildren, Kathryn Marie Smith Valle (Michael) and Jonathan Bryan Smith both of Charlotte, Andrea Shea Ratchford Finger (Michael) of Lawrenceville, GA, Thomas Houston Ratchford (Hilary) missionaries to South Africa, Joshua Wayne Smith (Laura) of Indian Trail and Victoria Renee Smith Crisco of Mint Hill and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his five brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either, Lilesville Baptist Church, P.O.
