Brenda Harrington McCormick

Brenda Harrington McCormick, 73, of Wadesboro, will forever be seeing the sunrises from her Heavenly home. She was escorted to Heaven on March 8, 2017 by her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was greeted by her father, Samuel H. Harrington who taught her to love the outdoors and the big sky; her mother, Sarah Moore Harrington, who taught her the importance of family; her brother, Sammy; and brothers-in-law Francis and Big John. Brenda retired from the Farm Service Agency as the Executive Director from a career that she deeply enjoyed for 35 years. Her greatest joy was her son, Dwight McCormick Jr., and his wife, Linda whom she loved as a daughter. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren, Denah and husband, Frank Raybuck, Jonathan and wife, Jaclyn McCormick, Samantha McCormick, and Kurt McCormick. She also had 5 great-grandchildren that completed her heart. She shared a lifelong love and friendship with Dwight McCormick, Sr. and wife, Delaine. Brenda was forever young in the presence of her sisters, Peggy Williams and Susan Burr and sister-in-law Susan Harrington. She was often in the company of her close companion, John McCormick. A celebration of Brendas life will be Saturday March 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests making donations to Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
