Buddy Joe Mr. Cox

LILESVILLE-Mr. Buddy Joe Cox, 74, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Ambassador Health and Rehab of Wadesboro. The family is receiving friends at the home of Buddy Joe and Cassie on 110 Ingram Mtn. Rd., Lilesville. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Buddy Joe was born in Anson County, NC on December 13, 1937, a son of the late Ruben Silas Cox and Jewel Bowers Cox. He was a retired auto mechanic having owned and operated Auto & Cycle Shop in Lilesville. When he was younger, Buddy Joe loved racing cars at the old Anson Drag Strip. He and his wife, Cassie enjoyed riding their motorcycle and traveling extensively, taking many memorable trips with their friends. Surviving are his wife, Cassie Williams Cox of the home, his son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Joni Cox of Monroe, his daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Gene Howell of Wadesboro and Wanda and Brian Galligher of West Hartford, CT; his grandchildren, Leslie Griggs, Lori Burr, Jessica Martin, Camron Nance, AshLee Cox and Aiden Galligher. Also surviving are his siblings, Nell Conklin and Roy Cox both of Wadesboro, Judy Cox and Roger Cox both of Lilesville. He was preceded in death by a son, Buddy Joe 'Joey' Cox, Jr. Memorials may be made to Lilesville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 452, Lilesville, NC 28091.
