WADESBORO - Mr. Calvin Chapman Burr, 85, died Friday, October 23, 2015 at the home of his daughter, which was his family's home place.
Funeral services will be 3:00pm Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Dr. Robert L. Hunter, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Calvin was born November 25, 1929 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Martha John Burr and the late Lula Chapman Burr. He was retired from Southern Bell Telephone with 43 years and 8 months service to the company, was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict and was a member of First Baptist Church, Wadesboro.
Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Mitch Burr of Mooresville, NC and Lisa and Myron Morton of Morven, NC; his grandchildren, Dr. Jarrett Burr and wife, Lindsey of Mooresville, NC, Dr. Jonathan Burr and wife, Katie of Burlington, NC and Brittany Young of Morven, NC; his great-grandchildren, Henry and Ellis Burr of Mooresville, NC and Nikki Young of Morven, NC.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Henry Burr and brothers and sisters, William 'Bill' Burr, Josephine Burr, Floyd Burr, Johnsie Burr, Frances Thomas, Doris Brock and Myrtle Ballard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 423, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
