Calvin Ann Steele Mrs. Gatewood

Mrs. Calvin Ann Steele Gatewood, daughter of the late Calvin Steele and the late Lossie Ann Crawford was born July 21, 1949 in Wadesboro, North Carolina. Resting peacefully, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. She was 66 years of age. She attended the public schools of Anson County and was employed with Unity Knitting Mill until her health declined. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of Pleasant Hill AME Zion Church in Wadesboro. Calvin served as the President of the Deaconess Board, Superintendent of Sunday School, Choir President and was active in other areas of the churchs ministries. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and always had open arms and a loving heart to anyone she came in contact with. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband, James Frank Gatewood of the home in Wadesboro, NC; three daughters, Janet Becky Richardson (Richard) of Wadesboro, LaSonya Clark of Wadesboro, NC and Carrie Clark of Albemarle, NC; one son, Marvin Bennett of Wadesboro, NC; blessed with ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Tillman, Ida Mae Leak (David), and Bobbie Jean Clark (Michael); one brother, David Clark. She also leaves her wonderful memories to the many children whom she raised and nurtured that lovingly called her mom, as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Alphonso Crawford. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, June 5, 2016 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Little officiating and Bishop Greg Bennett giving the eulogy. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill AME Zion Church Cemetery. No service information has been added.
