Carl Thomas Griggs

Wadesboro Mr. Carl Thomas Griggs, 80, died Friday, October 27, 2017, at his home. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Sunday at Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmie Furr officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00PM. Carl was born in Chesterfield County, SC on June 18, 1937, a son of the late Thurston and Bernice Vaughn Griggs. Proud to do his duty for his country, Carl served six years in the US Army Ready Reserves. He also worked for Delta Mills for nearly 45 years before retiring to spend more time with his wife and grandchildren whom he loved so much. Carl was a loving and devoted husband to Frances Oliver Griggs for 58 wonderful years. He had two daughters, Wanda Harris (Jeff) of Peachland and Angie (Mike) Creager of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Misty Harris, Heather Poplin (Jamie), Josh Harris, Kelsey Creager, and Karlee Creager; one great-grandchild, Bailey Poplin; a sister-in-law, Donnie Faye Griggs; and nieces and a nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, J.W. "Nookie" Griggs, Harold Griggs, Boyce Griggs, and Charles Griggs. The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to Bob Lowry, Carls nephew Rodney Griggs and to Community Home Care and Hospice for all of their love and support so unselfishly given.
