Catherine Berros Short

            WADESBORO – On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, Mrs. Catherine Berros Short, 88, of Kernersville and formerly of Wadesboro, passed away peacefully in her sleep.

            There will be service by the graveside in Bethel Cemetery in Wadesboro at 1:30 PM Saturday, November 12, 2022.

            The family will greet friends from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, November 11, 2022, at Leavitt Funeral Home.

            Catherine was born September 9, 1934, in New York and was a daughter of the late James Berros and the late Julia Hutchko Berros.

            While living in Wadesboro, she was a pillar in her community and in her church, Bethel United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She lived a good and productive life in service to others.

            Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and sons-in-law, Nancy and Kevin Coffey of Morganton, NC, Cathy Faulkner of Kernersville, NC,  Cynthia and Jimmy Miller of Boone, NC, Jo Allison and Spencer Clary of Johns Island, SC, Donna and Jack Aver of Morganton, NC and Diane and Chris Mowry of Lynchburg, VA; her sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Wanda Short of Deep Gap, NC and Ralph and Wendy Short of Powhatan, VA; her sister, Chrissy Stubbins of Delaware; her brother and sister-in-law, James and Sue Berros of Tennessee; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 8 nieces and nephews.

            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Ralph Horton Short; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Larry Gatchel and her grandson, Luke Short.
