Mr. Charles W. Carpenter, 78, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, August 12, 2019 while at the Atrium Hospice House in Monroe.
Services will be private but the family will greet friends anytime between now and Friday evening, August 16th at their home in Polkton.
Charles was born in Anson County on August 24, 1940, a son of the late Jodie Silas an Addie Estelle Beachum Carpenter. He was a veteran of the US Army. Charles was a retired longtime employee of Edwards Wood Products and a member of Poplar Hill United Methodist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, improving the land on which he lived with his trusty John Deere tractor and riding in his golf cart, especially to and around his pond.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Treadaway Carpenter of the home; two sons, Darrell Stacy Carpenter of Polkton and Michael Rex Carpenter of Peachland; a grandson, Ethan Carpenter; a sister, Betsy Vanhoy of Polkton; many nieces and nephews that he was especially close to; and two very special four-legged companions, Bear and Alex.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Janet Floyd; six brothers, Ed Carpenter, Howard Carpenter, Roy Carpenter, John Carpenter, Jerry Carpenter and Greg Carpenter; and three sisters, Lucille Horne, Aileen Martin, and Polly Nance.
The family suggests memorials be made to Poplar Hill Methodist Church, c/o Emily Carpenter, 720 Ross Wright Rd., Polkton, NC 28135.
