LILESVILLE - Mr. Charles 'Charlie' Rodney McCormick, 68, died Monday, May 11, 2015 at his home.
The family will greet friends Friday, May 15, 2015 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm in the fellowship hall of Forestville United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow in the sanctuary with Rev. Kay Frye and Rev. Steve Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Charlie was born June 18, 1946 in Anson County, NC a son of the Harvey Jesse McCormick and Jessie Mae Bun McCormick. He worked as an HVAC and Electrical instructor with South Piedmont Community College and owned and operated McCormick Heating and Air and Electrical.
He was a member of Forestville United Methodist Church and attended Gum Springs Baptist Church. Charlie participated in several mission trips with First Baptist Church, Wadesboro, traveling to Utah, Wyoming and Alaska. He also worked with the Baptist men building ramps for residents in Anson County.
Charlie was one who never met a stranger and was a friend to all. He knew firsthand the scripture lesson, 'To have a friend, one must first be a friend.' He loved children and was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild.
Surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Buck and Mary McCormick of Lilesville; his sister, Linda McCormick of Lilesville; his children, Charles Holley and Mary Katherine Holley both of Lilesville; his niece and nephew, Stacey McCormick of Southern Pines and Sean McCormick and wife, Meilani of Lexington; his great nieces and nephews, Calvin and Tyra Smith, Leila, Joseph and Luke McCormick; and his aunt and uncle, Lib and Bill Lear of Wadesboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jo Ann McCormick.
