Charlie Richard "Hardrock" Cassidy

Rockingham – Heaven gained a new angel on September 18th, 2021. Mr. Charlie fought a long battle with COVID pneumonia for 16 days, but never gave up. He is now able to breathe easily in Heaven along with the loved ones he’s missed. While Charlie’s time here on Earth may be over, but he will forever live on in our hearts and memories.

For anyone who knew Charlie, otherwise known as HARDROCK, then you knew he lived life to the fullest extent and he worked hard. He achieved his life-long dream of being a truck driver for 15 years, including becoming a business owner, driving his own truck. Charlie was one of a kind. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone, whether he knew them or not. He was quite a jokester. No matter the situation, he could make you smile.

Charlie loved and enjoyed many things like driving his big truck, riding four-wheelers, beaching it, riding his motorcycle, racing, or anything pertaining to the outdoors. But most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. He loved being a son, brother, husband, father, and papa. There’s not much he wouldn’t do for those that meant everything to him.

Charles Richard was born December 30th, 1984 to Melvin and Lucy Cassidy. He met the love of his life, Carolyn, on May 24th, 2005. They wed on October 7th, 2012. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Grace and Luther Cassidy and his maternal grandparents, Albert Jernigan Sr. and Gladys (Burt) Boone.

He leaves behind his wife Carolyn and sons Brandon and Charles Wayne of the home; daughters, Destanie (Nick) Jordan of Pikeville, NC, and Cloie Hicks of Jacksonville, NC, along with two grandchildren, Cayden and Erilynn Jordan; parents Melvin and Lucy Cassidy of Hamlet, NC; brother Kevin (Jessica Dunn) Cassidy of Hamlet, NC; and favorite companion Koby.
