Christine Carter Rich, age 88, of Wallace, passed from this earthly life to her eternal rest on Friday, March 24, 2023.

She was born on November 23, 1934 in Sampson County; the daughter of the late Norman Jefferson Carter, Sr. and the late Sarah Ann Rich Carter.  Mrs. Rich was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Pat Rich; her siblings, Loreen Whitley and N.J. Carter, Jr.

Mrs. Rich was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and sister. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy on this earth was her family.  Being a diligent homemaker and great cook, she filled her home with love and welcomed all who entered. Mrs. Rich was known for her famous strawberry cake and ‘the best ever’ gravy.  She was known for her baking and decorating wedding cakes for friends and family, including the wedding cakes for each of her children and her only granddaughter. Mrs. Rich was a talented pianist. She shared and mentored many piano players over the years.  She loved animals and it seemed they all loved and gravitated to her.  During her pastime, Mrs. Rich also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles with an ink pen.

Most of all, Mrs. Rich was a great woman of faith. She was a dedicated and long-time member of Peniel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where she served as church pianist for over 65 years. Mrs. Rich taught Sunday school for preschoolers for many years and worked with the preteens and teens doing skits and dramas. She loved and served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and lived a life that glorified Him and is now in His presence forevermore. She will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

Surviving to cherish her memory are: her son, Kenneth Rich and wife Tara of Wallace, daughters, Denise Hunter and husband Robert of Roseboro, and Sharon Holder and husband Steve of Pikeville; granddaughter, Brittany Royster and husband Steven, grandsons, Brandon Rich, Daniel Rich and wife Jodi, Luke Hunter and wife Maeghan, Rich Holder and wife Jessica, Blake Holder and wife Sarah, Matthew Holder and friend Ashlyn; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Angela Nelson of Fayetteville and Mable Woodlief of Garland; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who loved Christine dearly.

Funeral service will be held on 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Peniel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 2370 Willard Rd, Willard, NC 28478.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Peniel PFWB Church.
