Clarice Gaddy Martin

            ANSONVILLE – On Sunday, January 1, 2023, Mrs. Clarice Gaddy Martin, 82, passed away peacefully at her home.

            Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, January 5, 2022, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro with Rev. Jeff Glenn officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Ansonville.

            The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.

            Clarice was born May 29, 1940, in Anson County, NC and was one of thirteen children born to Jesse David Gaddy and Bessie Mae Meeks Gaddy. She was a graduate of Lilesville High School.

            She was an award-winning artist and accomplished musician. She served for many years as music director and pianist at Ansonville Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member. She also loved to sing and had been a member of Anson Singers. She has also been active with that Anson County Arts Council and was a member of The Classy Ladies Red Hatters.

            Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters and brother, Ila Grace Boyd of Cheraw, SC, George E. Gaddy (Debbie) of High Point and Mary G. Newton of Society Hill, SC and her nieces and nephews and their families.

            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff D. Martin, III, her infant son, Bryant Martin and her brothers and sisters, Jesse Gaddy, James Gaddy, John Gaddy, Clyde Gaddy, Furman Gaddy, Ernest Gaddy, Garrett Gaddy, Margaret Sellers and Brenda Collins.

            In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Cemetery Fund, c/o, Rev. Robert Burr, 1287 Dickie Little Rd., Wadesboro, NC 28170or to Anson County Arts Council, P.O. box 332, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
