ANSONVILLE - Mr. Clyde Vance Ponds, 72, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at his home.
Services will be 11:00am Saturday, September 3, 2011 by the graveside in Bethlehem Cemetery with Rev. Robert Burr officiating. Friends are invited to visit the family at the home at any time on Friday.
Vance was born January 3, 1939 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Clyde Lee and Lillie Lawhon Ponds. For 33 years, he was the Executive Vice President of the Charm Corporation in Columbia, SC and had worked with Beachum and Lee Ford in Wadesboro. He was a member of Ansonville United Methodist Church and was currently serving as a councilman for the Town of Ansonville.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Edna Edwards Ponds of the home; his sisters, Edith Thompson and Evelyn (Cary) Sullivan both of Ansonville; his brothers-in-law, Billy (Diane) Edwards and Earl (Veda) Edwards, Jr. both of Wadesboro; his sister-in-law, Margaret (Leon) Legrand of Rose Hill; and his nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Myra Emter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ansonville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 398, Ansonville, NC 28007.
