LILESVILLE - Mrs. Colleen Broome Carter, 84, died Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Ambassador Health and Rehab in Wadesboro. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Lilesville Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Lawson officiating. Private interment will follow in Lilesville Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Colleen was born March 3, 1929 in Union County, NC a daughter of the late George Washington Broome and the late Jennie Ola Williams Broome. She had worked as an inspector in textiles and was a member of Lilesville Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, David (Carolyn) Poplin of Lilesville; her sisters, Andrea (Bleechie) Preslar of Norwood, Williard Griggs of Wadesboro and Daphne Thomas of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Phillip (Emily) Poplin of Polkton and Angie Poplin of Lilesville and her great-grandchildren, Ethan Beck and Ameila Poplin.
