Mr. Connie Mack 'Shorty' Jenkins, 71, of Rockingham, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at his home.
Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro with Rev. Russell Edwards, Rev. Ernie Walters and Rev. Darrin Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Shorty was born December 17, 1939, in Chesterfield County, S.C., a son of the late John McCoy and Bertha Jewett Jenkins. He was a retired auto mechanic.
Surviving are his five children, David Mack Jenkins of Hamlet, Kathy (Steve) Fincher of Polkton, Junior (Rachelle) Jenkins of Rockingham, Vickie Rodriguez of Topeka, Kans., and David Matthew Jenkins of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; his eight grandchildren, Justin, Kayla, Fletcher, Vanessa and Nicholas Jenkins, Steven and Nelson Fincher and Trevor Rodriguez; his three great-grandchildren, Faith, Dixie and Levi Fincher; and his brothers and sister, Joe Jenkins of Gastonia, and Don Jenkins, Broadus Jenkins and Virginia Jones, all of Kannapolis. His wife, Betty Vernon Jenkins, preceded him in death.
