ANSONVILLE – On Thursday, October 20, 2022, Mrs. Connie Woods Wilhoit, 66, passed away peacefully at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, October 24, 2022 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Stegall officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Ansonville.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the funeral home and other times at her home.
Connie was born July 19, 1956 in New Hanover County, NC and was a daughter of Tessie Scott Hough and the late Troy Marshall Woods.
She worked for a number of years at Collins and Aikman in Norwood and later worked as Director of Anson County 911 Communications. She also worked part-time with Anson EMS and was a member of Ansonville Rescue Squad.
Connie was a long-time member of Ansonville Baptist Church where she served the church in various areas of ministry including, Sunday school director, Vacation Bible School director, member of the choir and Sunday school teacher. She later moved her membership to Rocky River Baptist Church in Polkton.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Heather Lambert (Calvin) and Stephanie Hartsell both of Ansonville and Michelle Griffin (Harold) of Banner Elk; her granddaughters, Kurstin Clark (Logan) of Lilesville and Kolbi Hartsell of Ansonville; her mother, Tessie Hough of Ansonville; her sister and brother, Patti Congdon (Gus) of Norwich, CT and Troy Woods, Jr. of North Carolina and her best friend, Ruth Bomhan of Wilmington.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wayne “Hoot" Wilhoit.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Anson Community Hospice, a division of Richmond County Hospice and the staff at Hospice Haven in Rockingham for the beautiful way in which they cared for Connie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Haven, 1119 US 1 North HWY, Rockingham, NC 28379 or to Friends of the Anson County Animal Shelter, PO Box 828, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
