Curtis Eugene Howell

WADESBORO - On Saturday, February 8, 2025, Mr. Curtis Eugene Howell, 93, passed away peacefully at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe.

There will be a memorial service at 2:00PM, Friday, February 14, 2025 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Helms officiating.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Curtis was born July 23, 1931 in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late Edward David "Ed" Howell and the late Alice Mae Braswell Howell. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean Conflict and worked as a licensed insurance agent for more than 45 years with Liberty Life Insurance Company.

He was a life-long member of North Wadesboro Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, fishing, hunting, dancing and keeping up with friends on CB Radios. He was also a member of Kilwinning Masonic Lodge in Wadesboro.

Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife of 69 years  Jeanette Williams Howell; his sons, Gene Howell (Sandra) and Tony Howell of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Leslie Griggs (Gregg) of Wadesboro, Lori Burr (Jeremy) and Jessica Martin (Matt) both of Lilesville and T. J. Howell (Sarah) of Polkton; his sister-in-law, Julia Howell of Clarksville, VA and his nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Tommy Howell, Edna Howell, Douglas Howell and J.B. Howell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Wadesboro Baptist Church, P.O. Bos 764, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
