Dane Edwards

 Peachland - On Sunday, January 21, 2024 , Mr. Edsel Dane Edwards, 71, passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, January  24, 2024 at New Home Baptist Church in Peachland with Rec. Scott Baucom officiating. Interment will follow in church cemetery. The family will greet friends two hours prior to the service on Wednesday in the church sanctuary.

Dane was born October 10, 1952 in Union County, a son of Elizabeth “Lib” Hartsell Edwards and the late Walter Edsel Edwards. He was a veteran of the Air National Guard and retired poultry farmer.  Dane had a personality that was larger than life. Whether it was a lighthearted joke, talking about the elephant in the room, or a simple “How are you?”, He could get away with saying anything. With Dane, you always knew where you stood with him— and you especially always knew that you were loved and cared for. He was responsible for raising three generations and instilling in them a strong sense of right and wrong, fairness, and the willingness to give the shirt off of your back to those in need. When he was not hunting, fishing, or maintaining a garden with his family, you could find him in his Chevrolet, making his rounds, and checking on the various members of the Burnsville community. Dane will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and those he left behind. Most importantly, Dane made it known that his hope was in Jesus Christ, that he knew he was going to heaven, and that he wanted you to be there too.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Judy Diggs Edwards of the home; his children, Chris Edwards and wife, Tonda of Peachland and Candace Lamonds and husband, Tracy of Peachland; his grandchildren, Taylor Griffin and husband, Kendall of New Salem, Jake Edwards and wife, Grace of Fayetteville, AR, Brad Edwards and wife, Abbey of Peachland and Will Edwards of Peachland; his great-grandchildren, Layla Griffin, Riley Griffin, Georgia Griffin, Wake Griffin, Clair Edwards, Emerie Edwards and Ellie Edwards; his mother, Elizabeth “Lib” Hartsell Edwards of Peachland; his sister, Pam Mills of Peachland and brother, Mike Edwards and wife, Beverly of Peachland.
