Lilesville - On Tuesday, August 3, 2021, Danny Douglas Smith, age 54, departed this life while at Anson Health and Rehab in Wadesboro. He was born July 9, 1967, in Anson County and was a son of the late Haywood Smith and the late Rosa Smith Prince. Danny was a graduate of Bowman High School in Wadesboro and had worked for several years in logging as a skidder operator. He was a very social person and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He rededicated his life to Christ and attended Bessie Chapel AME Zion Church in Lilesville and sang with the Male Chorus. Those left to cherish is memory are his son, Brandon Bennett; his grandmother, Bessie B. Teal who was more like a mother to him; his stepfather, Frank Prince; his sisters and brothers, Angela Prince Keitt, Rochelle Dunlap, Cedrick Prince and Haywood Smith, Jr.; his aunts and uncles, Kathy Williams, Bessie M. Teal, Laura Dean, Allison Teal, Jennie Zimmerman, Andrew Smith and Robert Parson; his great-aunt, Katherine Pickett and his nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 12:00 pm Saturday, August 7,, 2021 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Bessie Chapel AME Zion Church Cemetery in Lilesville. The family will be gathering at the home of his Grandmother, Bessie Teal on Grover Bennett Road in Lilesville. The public viewing will be Friday, July 6, 2021 from 2:00pm until 6:00pm at the funeral h ome.
