MORVEN - Mr. David Paul Brown, 81, died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the home of his daughter.
Funeral services will be 4:00pm Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Morven Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Whitlow and Rev. Calvin Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Morven Cemetery.
The family will greet friends Saturday, March 23, 2013 5:30pm until 8:30pm at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro and other times at the home.
Paul was born March 15, 1932 in Mecklenburg County, NC a son of the late Floyd Howard and Bertie Workman Brown. He and his late wife owned and operated the Morven Drive In for more than 27 years and later he was a carrier for The Charlotte Observer. In his younger years, he had worked as a police officer with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.
He was an active member of Morven Baptist Church where he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and trustee. One of his greatest loves was sharing the Gospel with his fellow man by serving with the Gideon's for more than 29 years.
Surviving are his children; Cindy B. Stephens and Cathee Walker both of Troy, Paulette (Jim) Bogatay of Charlotte, Linda Brown of Morven and Terry (Anita) Alexander of Mooreville; his brother and sister, Clyde (Nancy) Brown of Cornelius and Betty Morton of Davidson; 26 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcelle Brown and by a brother and sister, Floyd Eugene Brown and Carolyn Alexander.
He will be remembered as a loving, caring, giving man who was never complete until he was surrounded by his family. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
