David Jefferson Mr. Crowell, Jr

WADESBORO - Mr. David Jefferson Crowell, Jr., 69, died Thursday, November 29, 2012 at The Brian Center in Monroe. Services will be 2:00pm Sunday, December 2, 2012 by the graveside in Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Norm Jones officiating. The family will greet friends following the service and other times at the home of Leslie and Frank Hyatt in Polkton. Jeff was born December 11, 1942 in Union County, NC a son of the late David Jefferson Crowell and Ethel DePass Crowell. He was a graduate of Monroe High School, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and The Medical University of South Carolina at Charleston. He was a physican's assistant and owned and operated West Anson Medical Clinic in Polkton for 25 years and later worked with Wadesboro Primary Care. He also worked as an emergency room physician at Carolinas Medical Center Union. He was a retired member of Anson Rescue Squad where he had served as captain. It was while working with the rescue squad, Jeff's interest and love of medicine became evident. He also enjoyed antiques, and was a true historian, having a great interest in The Civil War and active with The Anson County Historical Society. 'Dr. Crowell' will be remembered for his caring bedside manner and compassion and was revered as a good medicine man. Surviving are his wife, Harriett Hyatt Crowell of the home; his daughters, Cathy Reynolds and husband, Ryan of Pawley's Island, SC and Dede Crowell of Apex; his step-children, Tiffany Ingold and her son, Landon of Lilesville and Nick Ingold of Wadesboro; his sister, Margaret Crowell of Winslow, ME; and his loving and devoted Dachshund, Molly. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red Hill Baptist Church, Brotherhood Ministry, % Teresa Wilson, 1104 Mt. Vernon Rd., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
