WADESBORO - Mrs. Dawn Lovett Hill, 78, of Shelby and formerly of Wadesboro, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Calvary Episcopal Church with Rev. Michael Bye officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Winoma Dawn Lovett was born September 8, 1935 in McCracken County, KY a daughter of the late Auldon Merlin Lovett and the late Lillian Agnes Madden Lovett. A 1953 graduate of Wadesboro High School, she used her artistic talents in working on the high school yearbooks. She was an exemplary homemaker and baked and decorated cakes for people in Anson County. A devoted Christian woman, she loved music and was well-traveled and well-read. She loved her family and often said the word family was the most important word in the dictionary. Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Johnny Henry Hill, Jr. of the home; her children, Michael Hill and wife, Cindy of Morganton, Velda Cureton and husband, Gary Gales and Sandy Markland and husband, Tony both of Cherryville; her grandchildren, Chris Cureton of Charlotte, Shane Cureton of Wadesboro, Michael J. Hill of Greenbay, WI, Matthew Hill and wife, Debbie of Louisville, KY and David Markland and fiance', Christal of Cherryville; her great-granddaughter, Alyssa Daughtry; her brother and sisters-in-law, Valdon Lovett and wife, Miriam and Nancy Lovett both of Wadesboro, Hazel Lovett of Greenville, NC, Linda Hertlein of Florence, SC, Betty Jean Burleson of Salisbury, Nancy Simmons of Matthews, Susan Scheffer of Kinston and Louise Hill of Patrick, SC.
