Delia Ann "Dee" McGee Shoemaker

CHARLOTTE – Mrs. Delia Ann “Dee Ann” McGee Shoemaker, 83, passed away peacefully at Brookdale Weddington Park in Matthews, NC.

​Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 27, 2023, by the graveside in Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery in Polkton.

​The family will greet friends following the service.

​Dee Ann was born May 12, 1940, in Harlan, KY and was a daughter of the late Victor Chester McGee and the late Anna Maria Shankle McGee. She was a graduate of Wadesboro High School and earned her bachelors and master’s degrees from the University of Georgia.

​Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Russell James Shoemaker, Jr. and Sarah of New York, NY and her brothers, Victor Chester McGee, Jr. and wife, Anne of Wilmington, Joseph Hill McGee and wife, Mary of Charlotte and John Emory McGee of Wilmington and her nieces and nephews and their families.

​Dee had a great love for art, gardening and flowers. 

​The family is most grateful to the staff of Brookdale Weddington Park and Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte for the care they provided Dee Ann.

​In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery, 4167 Rocky Mount Church Rd., Polkton, NC 28135.
