On Monday, December 26, 2022, Mr. Derwin Lee Tyson, 65, passed away peacefully at Anson Health and Rehab in Wadesboro. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, December 29, 2022, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Marsh officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Derwin was born in Anson County on December 28, 1956, a son of Benjamin Leak Tyson and Betty Horne Tyson. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing. He and his Granddaddy Caudle were close. He loved the beach where he met his wife, he played for the Wade Mill Rookies, and he was a veteran of the United States Navy. He attended Pensacola Junior College. Derwin never met a stranger and had a heart of gold. He was a father, son, and PaDew to his four beautiful grandsons. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Nicole Tyson LuQuire (Heath) of Albemarle; his grandchildren, Myles, Ezra, Ames and Clive LuQuire all of Albemarle; his sisters, Teresa Ray (Rodney) of Wadesboro, and Melanie Phillips (Billy Ray) of Burnsville, his brother, Mikey Tyson (Jessica) of Calabash, NC; his aunt, Margaret Batten of Gainesville, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
