Destry Dean Mr. Horne

LILESVILLE - Mr. Destry Dean Horne, 51, died tragically on Thursday, March 31, 2016 in Columbus, NC. There will be a service to celebrate Destrys life at 11:00am Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Lee Avenue, Wadesboro with Dr. Harry Workman officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro and other times at the home. Destry was born in Chesterfield County, SC a son of the late Harrison Horne and the late Ellen Jarman Horne. He was a 1982 graduate of Bowman High School and was employed with JJ Haines Flooring in Wadesboro. Known for his infectious smile, Destry was a friend to all and cared for others unconditionally. He was a member of Twin Valley Country Club and an avid golfer. Surviving are his wife, Marie of the home; his children, Paige Horne of Aberdeen, Logan Benson and husband, DiLynn of Monroe, Destry Horne, Jr. of Peachland and Ashley Micka of Lilesville; his grandson, Silas; his canine daughters, Daisy and Mae Mae. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Terry Horne and wife, Lecia of Charlotte, Phillip Horne of Foxfire Village, Michelle Bailey of Wadesboro, Tammy MacDonald of Charlotte, Ellen MacDonald, Robin MacDonald and Billie Ann Lassiter all of Monroe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Pep Horne. The family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 423, Wadesboro, NC 28170 in gratitude for the use of their facilities or Destry Horne Memorial Golf Tournament, Twin Valley Country Club, % Tommy Eddins, 302 E. Morgan St., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
