Dewey Frank Griffin

Mr. Dewey Frank Griffin, 84, died Friday, December 16, 2016 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Oakdale Baptist Church with Rev. Tracy Hickson and Rev. Arnold Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Griffin Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church and other times at the home. Frank was born December 12, 1932 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Emsley Frank Griffin and the late Ollie Moore Griffin. He was a graduate of Polkton High School, a veteran of the United States Army, a farmer and member of Oakdale Baptist Church. Surviving are his children, Jeff (Debbie) Griffin and Mike Griffin both of Polkton and Lisa (Mike) Haithcock of Mt. Gilead; his grandchildren, Nikolas (Jessica) Griffin of Polkton, Emily (JR) Hasty and Emsley (Nikki) Griffin both of Peachland, Kolby Haithcock, Kacy Haithcock and Kassidy Haithcock all of Mt. Gilead; his great-grandchildren, Madi Beaver, Griffin Hasty and Eason Griffin; his nephew, Alan (Lynn) Griffin and their sons, Kendall and Garrett of Polkton; his cousins, Betty Moore Lutz of Peachland and Roy (Barbara) Moore of Huntersville and their families. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Ray Emsley and Flora Lee Griffin. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Mary Ann Preslar and Gail Clark for the loving care and friendship they gave to Frank. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church, 3304 NC 218, Polkton, NC 28135. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
