Donald Bruce Mr. Goodman

Wadesboro-Mr. Donald Bruce Goodman, 90, died Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Graveside services will be 4:00pm Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Richmond Memorial Park in Rockingham with Rev. Stephen Ratliff officiating. The family will greet friends Tuesday prior to the services beginning at 1:30pm until 3:00pm at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro. Bruce was born in Richmond County, NC on September 13, 1923, a son of the late John Lawrence and Maggie Wallace Goodman. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served as a deacon in the First Presbyterian Church of Wadesboro. He served as President of the North Carolina Consumer Finance Association for two years. He owned several businesses in Anson County and ended his career as president of the FCA of Hamlet. Surviving are his children, Donald Bruce 'Donnie' Goodman, Jr. and wife, Norma of Charlotte, NC, Steve Goodman and wife, Marty of Rockingham, NC and Glenda McKinnon and husband, Bill of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister and brother, Doris Simmons of Lillington and Malcolm Goodman of Raleigh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Essie B. Smith Goodman; his grandson, John McKinnon; one sister and eight brothers. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Wadesboro, P.O.
