Wadesboro - Mrs. Dora Robinson Gainey was born March 26, 1939 in McFarlan, NC a daughter of the late Allen and Doretha Peguese Robinson. She departed this life on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at her home. She was 75 years of age.
She confessed Christ at an early age and attended Galilee AME Zion Church in Morven and also attended McRae High School in Morven.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Leo W. Gainey and they resided in Washington, DC for a number of years before returning to Anson County.
Dora worked for 15 years with Cuddy Farms as an egg gatherer. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her daughters, Darlene (Cardell) Gaddy, Bertha M. Gainey, Beverly A. Gainey, Theresa L. Thomas and Kimberly D. Gainey all of Wadesboro and Elaine (Kroner) Grant of Ft. Hood, TX; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are sister and brothers, Bertha Lee Ratliff, Charles (Paulette) Robinson and Edward Robinson all of Wadesboro; sisters-in-law, Eva Mae Robinson of Fayetteville and Janice Robinson of Wadesboro and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Gainey, grandson, BJ Gainey, and brothers, Allen Robinson, Jr., James Melvin Robinson, William T. Robinson, Lenwood Robinson, Cleveland Robinson and Henry C. Robinson.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM Thursday, October 23, 2014 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Bishop Walter Ellerbe officiating. Interment will follow in Galilee AME Zion Church in Morven, NC.
