Douglas Ray Clayton, 79, of Youngsville, died on Sunday, November 20, 2022. Born in Person County, he was the son of the late Dameron Wheeler Clayton and Mary Frances Newcomb Clayton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two siblings: Faye Clayton McFarland and Dameron Wheeler "Butch" Clayton, Jr.

 

Mr. Clayton received his undergraduate from Appalachian State University and two Master's Degree's from UNC-Greensboro. He was a Distributive Education Teacher and retired as a Career and Technical Director with Anson County Schools.

 

Surviving are his sister, Linda Clayton Kyles of Angier; nieces and nephews: Ginger McFarland Anderson (Michael), Mitzi McFarland May, James "Jay" L. McFarland, Jr. (Kenna), Amy Kyles Bain (Jeffrey) and Bart Clayton (Shelley); great-nieces and great-nephews: MacKenzie D. Anderson, Sara Frances Anderson, Conley M. May, Cassie N. May, Camryn L. McFarland, Lance A. McFarland, Kyle J. Bain, Savannah H. Bain, Ainsley Clayton and John Clayton.

 

Funeral will be held 11 AM Friday, November 25, 2022 at Brooks & White Chapel. Burial will be in the Person Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on hour prior to the service (10-11 AM).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anson High School CTE Fund, Anson High School, 96 Anson High School Rd., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
