POLKTON - Mr. Dubert 'James' Yates, Jr., 67, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center Pineville in Charlotte.
There will be a memorial service at 11:00am Saturday, December 13, 2014 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro with Rev. Barry Yates and Rev. Rodney Allen officiating.
The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home.
He was born August 25, 1947 in Cabarrus County, NC a son of the late Dubert James and Geraldine Furr Yates.
James had a long and successful career in trucking, having worked for more than 30 years with Roadway and recently worked as a correctional officer at Brown Creek Correctional Center in Polkton. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Suzanne Faye Wright Yates of the home; a step-son, Art Thomas of Ansonville; brother and sister, Donnie (Donna) Yates of Mt. Pleasant and Holly Millsaps of Denver; half-brother and half-sister, Ed Yates and Sherrell Cartwright both of Australia and his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Becky Allen, Sybile Williams and Truett Wright all of Polkton and Peggy Hildreth and Phyllis Pope both of Ansonville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Burnsville Fire Department or Burnsville Fire Department, Ladies Auxiliary, 13380 HWY 742, Polkton, NC 28135.
