LILESVILLE - Mr. Duran 'Randy' Boling, 72, died Thursday, November 14, 2013 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Lilesville Baptist Church with Rev. Kaye Fry and Rev. Teddy Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Lilesville Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday in the fellowship hall of the church and other times at the home. Randy was born May 6, 1941 in Richmond County, NC a son of the late Colon and Martha Inez Hogan Boling. He was retired from Duff Norton in Wadesboro and he and his wife owned and operated Boling's Taxidermy. He was a member of Lilesville United Methodist Church and was faithful in supporting not only his church, but also, Lilesville Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church. Surviving are his children, Maria (Clay) Allen of Rockingham, Angie Adams and Connie (Ricky) Knotts both of Lilesville and Tim (Carolann) Boling of Lexington; his grandchildren, Joey Santana, Beth Shepard, Max Griffin, Carl Knotts, Larry Adams, II, Lewis Adams, Angela Adams and Jacob Boling; his great-grandchildren, Savannah and Mason Knotts, and Elijah and Anniston Shepard; his brother and sisters, Glen Boling, LuAnn McPhatter and Kathy Gilliam all of Rockingham and Jeanene Brinkley of Raleigh; his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Vance (Pat) Gulledge and Nancy Gulledge both of Lilesville and Cleveland Jordan of Wadesboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Bettie Gulledge Boling on March 12, 2012. Randy remained faithful to his love and commitment to Bettie even following her death as he could be found daily visiting her resting place in quiet devotion to her. Although heartbroken, their family can rejoice in knowing Randy and Bettie are together again. Randy will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. His children know firsthand that he is the epitome of what a Father should be. Many lives were touched by his kindness and generosity to those in need in the community. He was faithful to visit the sick in the community and nursing homes and loved being in the out of doors, hunting and on the river fishing. Memorials may be made to Lilesville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 452, Lilesville, NC 28091. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
