WADESBORO – Mr. Earl Wallace Hanna, 73, died peacefully Friday, January 1, 2021 at Anson Health and Rehab in Wadesboro.
Earl was born August 3, 1947 in Anson County, NC a son of the late George Washington Hanna and the late Eunice Meachum Hanna. He was educated in the Wadesboro School System and always attended Hanna United Methodist Church.
He was a truck driver all his life, having driven long distances for Jordan Lumber and Sonny Beachum. He was known in the trucking world as “Carolina Hippy” and was well-known among fellow truck drivers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son; George Wallace Hanna (Pam) of Ansonville; his former wife, Jeanette Watkins Hanna of Ansonville; his grandchildren, Zachary Hanna (Mallory) of Peachland and Amanda Hanna of South Carolina; his great-grandchildren, Daniel and Allison; his brothers and sisters, Charles Hanna (Brenda), Paul Hanna, Katie Ennis (Steve), Maxine Hanna and Evelyn Carpenter (Fulton) all of Wadesboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Georgia Hildreth.
The family plans to have a private graveside service at a later date at Hanna Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wadesboro.
